What Do You Do With 113 Travel Films? Launch The Travelclast.
This is kinda a funny story.
So a travel fanatic friend of mine and I wanted to produce a global travel show that only took place in Queens NY due to budget constraints. The joke was that Queens is the most culturally diverse place on the planet (with over 800 languages spoken just in Queens) so you could basically travel anywhere in the world without ever crossing a bridge. We were drafting our concept and saw an online contest with (the now defunct) WOW airlines so, as a test to see how we worked together, submitted a little travel film.
Well, we won.
They gave us an apartment in Reykjavik and let us travel anywhere that WOW flew so we could make travel films for them. They weren’t expecting someone with such maniacal work ethic, and I ended up producing over 130 travel films in just under 3 months.
2 months later they were out of business.
Our travel flicks couldn’t save them from financial ruin, so, I decided to launch my first YouTube channel. The process was extremely humbling and it was an excellent education in SEO and self-marketing. The result was a fun travel channel called TravelClast which has been my digital home for all things trip related.
